Crooked Trails: Travel With a Purpose

VOLUNTEER TRAVEL  - TRAVELING WITH US

Crooked Trails creates programs that offer participants an opportunity to interact with local people and the environment in deep and meaningful ways.  During a Crooked Trails program, you will learn about the country and people you are visiting.  You will also travel in a responsible manner; a way that benefits both the host and guest, that respects and protects the natural and human environment, that benefits the communities economically and that encourages indigenous people to control their own future.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of a Crooked Trails program is taking part in a true cultural exchange, a powerful experience that can lead to a deeper understanding of yourself, your own culture, and the world in general.  We encourage you enter our host community with openness, respect, and a willingness to ask questions, listen, and offer friendship.  By listening to villagers’ stories and participating in their daily lives and activities, we honor their knowledge of place and of a life well lived.

We ask that all participants learn and follow the guidelines for responsible travel outlined on our Responsible Travel page.  As a participant you will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss your travel experiences.

We can all travel in a culturally, economically, and environmentally responsible manner.
